2021 has been a challenging year for many of us and with COVID still causing difficulties, and the possibility of new restrictions being in place, the challenges everyone is facing are still apparent.
But we, and so many other local businesses, have continued to operate despite it all. Throughout the year, we have remained committed to helping other businesses stay open and working.
As part of that, we have been focused on developing our business and being able to expand the services we offer, so here’s what we’ve been up to during 2021…

We launched our concrete batching plant
Our biggest expansion took place over summer as we built a brand new concrete plant, at our inert facility, located at Canford Recycling Centre near Wimborne.
The concrete plant means that we are now able to mix a whole range of concrete mixes at our site for our customers to collect. The batching plant allows us to mix concrete from as little as 0.3m3 per collection.

We added some new concrete drums
We are now able to produce all of the most popular concrete mixes at our concrete batching plant, and then deliver the ready-mixed concrete directly to the customer or their site.
This is a particularly cost effective option for those needing a minimum of 5m3 at a time, although we can deliver concrete from as little as 1m3.
Our wheelie bin service and refuse bags went live
As well as expanding our concrete services, we have grown our waste collection solutions by launching our brand new commercial wheelie bin service to businesses throughout the BH postcode.
We offer not one, but 4 different bin sizes, so that all amounts of waste are covered.
The smallest size we offer is 240L (about 4 large bin bags) and the largest being 1100L (about 20 large bin bags).
Customers are able to dispose of a wide variety of waste types in our wheelie bins, and we often encourage the use of multiple bins, so that customers can separate their different waste types into the separate bins.
Along with our wheelie bins, we offer a waste collection service, in which the customer can choose how frequently they want their waste collected.
What’s more, our wheelie bins are available for hire as we can now provide a complete events waste management service.
And if you don’t have space for one of our wheelie bins, but still need a waste management service, we also launched a refuse bag delivery and collection service towards the end of 2021. This works similar to the wheelie bin service; all you have to do is order a roll of our refuse bags and then leave the filled bags outside the night before the arranged collection date.
While we have been busy rolling out new services across the area, we have also been focusing on improving our customer journey and the user experience.
The online shop and phone sales team went from strength to strength
Our customers are now able to order our loose aggregates, bagged aggregates, skip bags and refuse bags online, as well as being able to hire a skip and grab truck online.
We wanted to make the buying/ hiring process as easy as possible, and by putting our product and services online enables our customers to purchase what they need, at any time – no opening hours restricting them.
We also set up a telephone sales team, so that our customers can call in and order what they need. Our phone sales team are knowledgeable about our products so are able to provide help and guidance to our customers before they make a purchase.
We expanded our fleet
As part of our commitment to great customer service, we renew our trucks regularly and 2021 was no exception. We put several new trucks on the road, keeping our fleet young and reliable.
By making sure we are using newer trucks, we can ensure that the delivery of our services are just as smooth as the purchase.
With the new trucks in use, they are less likely to breakdown and will avoid delays in getting the service to our customers.
