AMS Concrete is now BSI accredited!

AMS Concrete has been going from strength to strength (literally) since we launched our new concrete services in 2021, but now we’re pleased to announce that we have passed our assessment and are BSI accredited.

In this article, we explain what this means for our business, and what it means for you as a customer ordering any of our concrete products.

What does BSI mean?

BSI stands for British Standards Institution. Having passed and being accredited by the BSI means that we have been ‘assessed against internationally recognised standards and operate to the highest levels of quality and service.’ Sounds impressive right?

It’s peace of mind for you…

By having this accreditation behind us, you can rest assured and be confident that our concrete is the best of the best. It also allows us to demonstrate our commitment to quality products and services within the concrete industry.

How did we get our accreditation?

It wasn’t a quick process, and not every business passes straight away, so it was even more of an achievement when we did. This is the process we had to go through:

  • We contacted the BSI – we knew this was an important accreditation to have, so got in contact with the BSI to start the process
  • Proposal – they then provided us with a detailed proposal explaining what we would need for the formal assessment.
  • We met our assessment team and were assigned a dedicated Client Manager.
  • Training – we completed workshops, seminars and training days to bring our staff up to certification level.
  • We had our pre-assessment – this outlined any weaknesses that needed resolving before the official assessment.
  • We were assessed – this comprised of a number of stages, which included inspecting the following and ensuring that:
    • All of our staff are fully trained and competent
    • Our materials conform to the relevant standards for the production of concrete
    • Our machinery is maintained to the to the highest level
    • Weighgear calibrations are carried out quarterly by an external specialist.
    • Our product is tested by an ACAS accredited laboratory
    • We have a system in place for continually monitoring and improving quality standards.
  • We got the good news! – In January 2022, we were issued with our certification confirming that we had passed the standards required to be BSI accredited!

It doesn’t stop there… as part of the accreditation, we will regularly be assessed by our Client Manager to ensure we are continuing to reach these high standards. The BSI can also support us to ensure any new staff working on any of our concrete services are up to this level.

An overview of the AMS Concrete services

Now you know all about our accreditation, we thought we would touch on the concrete services available from AMS.

Ready mix concrete collections

The AMS Concrete batching plant is based at our inert facility, which is located at Canford Recycling Centre near Wimborne.

Here, you can collect a wide range of concrete mixes from as little as 0.3m3 per visit. We produce all of the most popular concrete mixes right up to C50.

You can learn all about the types of mixes we are able to produce over on our blog here.

Ready mix concrete deliveries

Would you prefer your concrete to be delivered to your business or DIY project? AMS Concrete operate three concrete mixer drums that can deliver our top quality ready mixed concrete directly to your site.

This option is particularly cost-effective if you require a minimum of 5m3 at a time, although we can deliver concrete from as little as 1m3.

Mix on site concrete

Using our volumetric concrete truck, we can also supply a mix on site service. All the raw materials are stored in separate compartments and these are then measured and mixed into fresh concrete onsite when and where it is needed.

This is a great option if you are unsure exactly how much you will need for your job as you only pay for what you use.
