Can You Bulk Buy Aggregates Online? | AMS News

Can you bulk buy aggregates online, and which types are available?

Did you know aggregates are the most mined materials in the world. Also, according to the most recent statistics, the south west has the second largest consumption of aggregates in England, equating to 19 per cent of the total sale of aggregates (Aggregate Minerals Survey for England and Wales 2014).

In this article, we break down what aggregates are, the most popular aggregates AMS (Avon Materials Supplies) supply and what applications each of the aggregates are commonly used for. You will also find guidance on the easy ways to order the aggregate you need from AMS.

What are aggregates?

Aggregates are a granular material used in construction, groundworks and home renovations and are often grouped as either;

  • Primary
  • Recycled
  • Decorative

The most commonly used aggregates include sands, gravel, shingles and crushed rocks. Although many aggregates are used for filling and capping purposes, there are a number of them, such as topsoil, shingle and cobblestones that are used as an end (decorative finish) product.

Our aggregates are available to all. For example, during the lockdown, we saw an influx in individuals buying aggregates for various home projects such as patio alterations for hot tubs, bases for garden offices and decorative pathways.

To learn more about the type of home projects where you would need to bulk buy aggregates, read our article: What are the best recycled aggregates for your lockdown project.

  • The 900kg bulk bags we use are extremely strong and resistant to the weather so can be stored outside for a fairly long period of time.
