Expert Guide To Inert Waste Skip Hire | AMS Skip Hire

Expert guide to inert waste skip hire

The low cost skip hire service we provide in and around Bournemouth and Poole remains one of our most popular services.

Although we hire out various sized skips which can be used to contain, transport and dispose of most major waste types, it is our inert waste skips that are always in constant demand from local builders, contractors and tradespeople.

To help you to better understand what an inert skip is and how it could save you money on your next job, we have answered some of the most common inert waste skip hire questions in this article. To jump straight to the answer you are looking for, please click on the appropriate link below:

What is inert waste?

Inert wastes are materials that are unreactive, both chemically and biologically meaning that the waste will not decompose. Common examples of inert waste types include:

  • Subsoil
  • Chalk
  • Hardcore
  • Concrete
  • Rubble

If you do choose to hire an inert skip, you must ensure that no other types of waste are placed in the skip. If different forms of waste such as wood, plasterboard or general site waste are found to be in an inert skip, additional charges will be applied and the overall recycling level of the skip could be reduced.

At AMS we are able to recycle up to 100% of the inert waste we receive. This is thanks to our relationship with Commercial Recycling and the access it allows us to their market-leading aggregate washing plant.

Why is hiring an inert skip so cheap when compared to a mixed waste skip?

Although skip hire prices can fluctuate fairly regularly, it is not uncommon for us to offer inert skip hire 50% cheaper than a general/mixed waste skip.

The main reason for this huge cost saving is because we are able to efficiently process the waste to ensure it is recovered and recycled into a range of construction aggregates which can be reused in various applications.

What size skips can be used for inert waste disposal?

Due to the weight of the waste and what it is safe for us to collect and transport, we only hire out 4 and 6 yard skips for inert waste. For larger amounts of inert waste, we are able to offer a grab lorry service or provide various sized RoRo containers. To find more, please contact our friendly team on 01202 579579

For guidance, a 4 yard skip would hold approximately 40 black bin bags of inert waste, with the 6 yard holding around 60 bags.

How can I hire an inert skip?

At AMS, we have made it even easier to hire an inert waste skip with the launch of our new online store. It’s as simple as selecting the skip size you need, where it needs to be delivered to and the date you require the skip. We’ll arrange the rest!

Alternatively, you can call our team on 01202 579579 to place an order or for more information.

Most of the time we can offer a same day or next day skip hire (STA) service anywhere in the Bournemouth area.

Our standard skip hire period is 2 weeks, so collections are completed either on the date you have requested (within 2 weeks) or 14 days after the skip is delivered. It is not a problem if you need the skip for longer but this will incur a small rental charge. For more information, please contact our team. We can also arrange on-road permits, signage, lights and cones when required.
