How to dispose of home renovation waste
Improving your home over the summer? Getting rid of all your home renovation waste can be a daunting prospect. Whether you are pulling down a wall or two to achieve an open plan living space, upgrading your bathrooms or just ripping up those carpets that have down for far too long! You will be creating a volume of waste that won’t be suitable for disposal at your local tip.
Here at Avon Material Supplies, we work hard to make removing home renovation waste as simple as it can be. Our waste collection services are low cost and can often be completed on a same or next day basis in Poole, Bournemouth and throughout the BH postcode area.
Here are some questions we are asked frequently asked regarding the disposal of renovation waste:
How should I organise my renovation waste?
Most wastes are accepted in our mixed waste containers, however this does come with some exceptions, including:
- No electrical items (e.g. TV’s, fridges and kitchen appliances)
- No hazardous materials (e.g. aerosols and gas bottles)
- No plasterboard waste
- No liquid waste
By law, these materials must be segregated from mixed waste streams and disposed of in accordance to the particular laws that govern the particular waste type. If you do plan to dispose of any of these materials, please get in touch with our team on 01202 810938. to discuss your options.
What size container would you recommend for renovation waste disposal?
This completely depends on the size of your project and the volume of waste it will create. If you are planning to just renovate a small area of your house, such as one room, you may only need to order one or two Easy Skip Bags. These can carry up to 1 tonne of waste, so are perfect for smaller projects.
If you are planning a larger size renovation then hiring a 6 or 12 yard skip would be ideal. These can hold the equivalent of around 60 or 120 black bin bags. We can deliver, exchange and collect skips in all BH postcodes, and our skip hire service can include obtaining the necessary on-road permit, signage, cones and lamps if and when required.
I am also landscaping my garden, can garden waste be disposed of in the same bag or skip?
Yes! As long as it’s not hazardous, garden waste can be mixed with domestic or renovation waste.
