Terms and Conditions for our hire services, including skips, grab lorries, skip bags and tipper trucks
Any order placed with Avon Material Supplies or Nationwide Direct, which involves taking the vehicle off the public highway will be at the customers own risk, and they accept full responsibility for any damage that may occur to property, vehicles or persons as a result of this action.
It is the responsibility of the hirer under the Duty of Care Environmental Protection Act 1990, to inform the driver of the contents of the waste container and/or pile.
Where inert waste loads (soil/hardcore/muck/concrete) are ordered and they are found to contain other waste types, in particular mixed builder’s waste materials thus contaminating the load, the hirer will be charged accordingly for a mixed waste collection service.
The following Hazardous Waste items cannot be put (or allow others to put) into the skips without obtaining prior written permission from Avon Material Supplies or Nationwide Direct.
Liquids, Asbestos Waste, Plasterboard, Fridges, Freezers, Electrical & Electronic equipment, Clinical, Medical, Solvents or Toxic wastes, Pressurised Cylinders, Vehicle Tyres, Car/commercial Vehicle Batteries, Fluorescent Tubes and any other waste types, which following changes in legislation may become classified as a special, difficult, or hazardous waste type. This list is not exhaustive of the waste items not permitted in our skips, for more information please call our sales team. If when tipped, the skip is found to contain any such item, you will be quoted a disposal price for these items, you will also be given, where possible, the opportunity to collect the items from the disposal facility, if the item/items are not collected by 4pm on the same day, the disposal price quoted for the items will be charged to the payment card used for the initial payment, or the Hirers previously approved credit account. PLACING ANY OF THESE ITEMS IN A WASTE CONTAINER OR PILE WILL RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CHARGES.
No cans, bottles or other liquid containers are placed in the hire item(s) unless they are dry, free from liquid or residues, and open for inspection.
If the waste container or pile is to be placed on the Highway, or other public places, it is the hirers responsibility to ensure permission has been approved by the local authority, and it is properly coned where necessary during the hours of daylight and coned and lighted during the hours of darkness.
Avon Material Supplies or Nationwide Direct can organise permits at an additional cost to the hirer.
No Fires are to be lit in the skip, all damage by fire, vandalism or other means, the Hirer will reimburse Avon Material Supplies or Nationwide Direct all costs for either replacement or repair.
The hirer must insure the waste container is filled no higher than the top of its sides and in such a manner as to prevent spillage of material, both whilst the container is stationary, or in transit – CONTAINERS WILL NOT BE REMOVED FROM SITE IF THEY HAVE BEEN LOADED ABOVE THE SIDES OR HAVE BEEN MOVED.
No unauthorised removal of the container shall take place by the hirer or a 3rd party contractor without the prior consent of Avon Material Supplies or Nationwide Direct.
Blocked access due to parked vehicles or materials resulting in failed delivery/collection will incur standing time and or a wasted journey charge.
In all cases delivery and collection times are given for guidance only and Avon Material Supplies or Nationwide Direct accepts no liability for any costs incurred due to delays in delivery/collection; or failure to deliver on the preferred delivery date, or at the preferred time due to unforeseen circumstances.
Except where the Hirer has a previously approved credit account, payment for the provision of the service shall be made in full by the Hirer to Avon Material Supplies or Nationwide Direct prior to the delivery. The customer can only pay by credit or debit card. Payment for the service and all applicable delivery charges are in advance, and based on the information provided by the customer. In the event that there are any surcharges (such as overweight/overloaded skip charges, disposal of restricted items, etc.) or wasted journey charges, the Hirer shall be liable to pay these fees and Avon Material Supplies or Nationwide Direct reserve the right to charge these surcharges to the payment card used for the initial payment, and shall inform the Customer of these charges.
