Our New Concrete Services Are Now Live | AMS Concrete

Our new concrete service is live… here’s what you need to know

We hope you’ve been enjoying all the updates posted on our Facebook and Linkedin accounts since the concrete plant build started during the summer. We are very excited to announce that the plant is now ready, so we wanted to look back at the build and also explain what this means for our customers.

The construction of our concrete plant…

It all started back at the beginning of summer when we introduced our new Operations Manager Jason Watts to AMS (you can read his welcome Q&A here). Jason was brought into the team to head up the concrete plant.

The construction of the plant then kicked off. We had a blank slate but needed to lay a new base for the plant to be built on.

Towards the end of August, we had the huge concrete plant water tanks arrive at the site. As you can imagine, to deal with the amount of concrete that will be created here we need a lot of water, so these will definitely come in handy. They will hold a massive 30,000 litres of water per tank (and we have 3)!

At the beginning of September, we finished the construction of the base of the concrete plant. This meant that we just needed to await the delivery of the plant and then it would be full steam ahead.

AMS Concrete base

The week of the 13th of September was an exciting one for AMS Concrete. The first section of the plant was delivered, allowing us to start the set-up later that week. This included the five 40 tonne aggregate bins (which can be seen in the gallery below) which will be filled with sand and stone to be fed into the plant. We also installed a block wall for the aggregate ramp so aggregates can be dropped in, these blocks weighed a massive 62.4 tonnes and our two 100 tonne cement silos were in place.

Our first concrete mixer truck then arrived and was sign written at the beginning of October!

Testing took about a week and went off without a hitch and then we were ready to GO!

Our first customer was Gracelands in Canford Magna… here’s a photo we snapped with our concrete drum mixers in use for the first time.

See the full gallery of our concrete site at the bottom of this article.

What concrete services are now being offered?

So now you know what went into getting our new concrete plant up and running, here’s some information about the services we can provide:

Ready-mix concrete collections

The AMS Concrete batching plant is based at our inert facility, which is located at Canford Recycling Centre near Wimborne.

Here, you can collect a wide range of concrete mixes from as little as 0.3m3 per visit. We produce all of the most popular concrete mixes right up to C50.

Ready-mix concrete deliveries

If you prefer to have your concrete delivered then we have three brand new concrete mixer drums which can deliver our top quality ready mixed concrete directly to your site.

This option is particularly cost-effective if you require a minimum of 5m3 at a time, although we can deliver concrete from as little as 1m3.

Mix Onsite

Our volumetric mixers make the process of acquiring just the right volume of concrete for your construction project hassle-free and cost-effective. Sometimes it can be hard to judge how much concrete you will need until you’ve started and the most frustrating part if it’s pre-mixed, is running out and having to re-order more. Or realising that you’ve got a lot spare and letting it go to waste.

Fortunately, with our mix onsite service, there is no chance of this happening. It also means that you are benefiting from:

  • Extremely fresh concrete
  • Potential money savings (as there’s no wastage)
  • The perfect ratios
  • A range of concrete mixes

You can learn more about our mix onsite service, including all the types of concrete mixes you can choose from here.

How do I order concrete from AMS?

You can request a quote from our concrete team by simply filling out the form on our website, or giving us a call on 01202 579579.

They’ll be able to generate your quote based on which service you will be using, and how much concrete you will need. But don’t forget, for the mix onsite service, you only pay for what you use!
