Why RoRo Hire Should Be Your Large Trade Waste Solution | AMS News

RoRo Hire & Large Trade Waste Solutions

Running a business comes with generating waste, no matter what size you are. But disposing of a bit of trade waste from an office or small business is completely different to disposing of large amounts of trade waste that might be produced at a factory, building site or a large leisure complex.

Sometimes large amounts of trade waste can make our largest wheelie bin look like a little household bin.

Things you need to think about

Hopefully, it won’t come as a surprise to you that there are some legal requirements that need to be met when disposing of trade waste. It is a business owner’s responsibility, as the waste producers, to make sure that waste is collected by a licensed waste company and that it is disposed of at a licensed facility.

When disposing of a large amount of waste, the environment might also be a concern. So it is worth thinking about how you can separate waste into their different streams so that as much of it can be recycled as possible. Nowadays, there are many waste disposal companies that will avoid sending waste to landfill where possible. At AMS, we work closely with Commercial Recycling to recycle as much trade waste as possible.

Not all waste is the same and this will need to be reflected in your trade waste solutions. Some businesses might produce one type of waste meaning that they will only need storage for one waste stream. However, other businesses might produce multiple waste types meaning that they need a waste management solution which will help them efficiently dispose of each waste type. You need to think about this when organising waste management solutions, so that you don’t end up with a pile of waste you haven’t thought about, or incur an unexpected charge for the wrong waste type in a container.

RoRos as Large Trade Waste Solutions

RoRo stands for roll on roll off. They are large metal containers that are perfect for businesses and contractors who need to dispose of large volumes of trade waste.

AMS offers a variety of RoRo sizes; the smallest RoRo we have available is 15 yards, and the largest we operate is 50 yards, with 20 yard and 35 yard containers in between.

They look like shipping containers and can take up a fair bit of space, so these aren’t just something that can be ordered and dumped. When planning how you will dispose of your waste, you should also consider where you will be collecting and storing it.

Our RoRo’s are able to collect a range of waste types which include:

  • Site waste
  • Commercial & industrial waste
  • Construction & demolition waste
  • Wood waste
  • Plasterboard waste
  • Garden / green waste
  • Inert spoil
  • Clean concrete

If you are looking for a permanent solution to large amounts of trade waste, a roll on roll off could be ideal. Once placed down, the back of the container can open, meaning it is easy to walk waste in and dump it. Alternatively, you could use a tipping platform, or if you are on a site which has machinery, you could also use a hoist attached to a lifting vehicle to drop the waste into the RoRo container.

Once the container is filled with waste, we will come and collect it and transport it to Canford’s Commercial Recycling Centre, where as much of the waste as possible will be recycled into various commodities. Arranging the collection of a RoRo is simple as we have 2 options which means it can fit around your business needs. For irregular waste removals, you can call us and arrange a collection on a date that suits you. Or if you need more regular waste collections, then we can set up a schedule where we collect your RoRo container on certain days and replace it with an empty one, so you can start the process again.

Benefits of using RoRos for large amounts of trade waste.

RoRo hire for large trade waste management can be very cost effective. This is because a RoRo container can hold large amounts of waste, meaning that your collection needs can be reduced compared to if you were using skips. With reduced collection costs, your overall waste management costs will reduce.

Additionally, reduced collection has practical benefits too. Reducing the amount of trips needed will mean that you don’t have to coordinate as many waste transportation movements, giving you as a business owner more time to focus on what really should be a priority.

It can also mean that skip lorries or other waste collection vehicles aren’t constantly arriving to pick up and drop off skips or other waste collection containers, allowing for more important deliveries or traffic to be at the front of mind.

Finally, as we have mentioned above, our collections can fit around your business requirements. So whether you need regular waste collections or infrequent pickups, we can do it. We can drop off an empty container at the same time as collecting a full one, so you don’t have to wait for 2 separate visits from us. You don’t need to stress that the rubbish will be overflowing and won’t be collected, and can instead concentrate on your customers.

How can you reduce collection frequencies?

You are able to reduce the frequency that you need waste collected by using compaction machinery. The machinery will squash your waste together, making it smaller and tighter. This will allow you to pack more waste into a RoRo container at a time, which will then reduce the number of times you will need the container collected and emptied.

Think you could use a RoRo?

There are many benefits for using RoRos when you are producing large amounts of trade waste.
