The Commercial Wheelie Bin | Waste Disposal Service | AMS News

Introducing our latest service… the commercial Wheelie Bin

We’re pleased to announce our brand new commercial wheelie bin service that is being rolled out to businesses across the BH postcode areas. In this article you’ll learn a bit more about the service, the benefits it offers, plus some facts about commercial waste that you may not have known before.

Do the wheelie bins come in a variety of sizes?

To be able to cater for every size of business, large and small we offer a choice of 4 different bin sizes. The smallest being 240L (about 4 large bin bags) and the largest being 1100L (about 20 large bin bags).

Generally speaking, the larger bins are used by standard sized businesses such as industrial buildings, offices and shops. Smaller businesses or shared office spaces may opt for one of the smaller bins.

Can my business use multiple wheelie bins?

This is a great idea. Whilst we’re all trying to do our best at recycling, by having multiple bins in various sizes you can use one for mixed waste, one for recycling and one for food waste (if required) for example. A multi bin approach can also save a business money because it reduces the amount of general/mixed waste needing to be disposed of.

What waste is accepted in an AMS commercial wheelie bin?

You can use our commercial wheelie bin solutions to dispose of many waste streams. These are:

  • General / Commercial waste
    • All non-recyclable & non-hazardous mixed waste
    • Black bag waste
    • Household waste
  • Dry mixed recyclables
    • Paper/Cardboard
    • Plastic (i.e drinks/milk bottles)
    • Tins/cans
  • Cardboard
  • Food
  • Glass (bottles)

If you produce any hazardous waste, this cannot be placed in these wheelie bins and will need to be disposed of separately. Contact us on 01202 579579 to discuss your hazardous waste disposal requirements and to learn more about our hazardous waste boxes.

Can I hire wheelie bins for an event?

Yes, in addition to our scheduled waste management solutions we can provide complete event waste management service (once lockdown restrictions are lifted, of course).

Can I change the collection frequency of my wheelie bin?

Of course! If your business is seasonal for example and you require additional bins during your busy periods, this can be arranged. You can either swap your commercial wheelie bin for a different size, or we can change the frequency of your collection.

We offer collections daily, weekly and fortnightly.

Some facts around commercial waste…

  • On average, every year, 40 million tons of commercial and industrial waste is produced in the UK… to give you some idea, that would fill about 40 million of our largest wheelie bins!
  • The amount of commercial waste that we’re producing in the UK seems to be going up every year.
  • Commercial and industrial waste counts for about 18% of the UK’s overall waste production.

Why should I choose the AMS commercial wheelie bin solution?

We’re ensuring none of the waste collected will go to landfill. Dry Mixed Recyclables, Cardboard and Glass will all be recycled. Food waste will go to a Anaerobic Digester (AD) facility where it will be processed into a power. The general waste will be sent to a UK Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) where it will be tuned into power for homes and businesses.

Rest assured that you’re doing your part for the environment too! (even if we’re doing the hard bit.)

Avon Material Supplies has been providing businesses in and around Dorset and Hampshire with waste disposal services for over 25 years now, so when it comes to waste disposal solutions, we certainly know our stuff.
